The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of hospital. The goal of the ACLS course is to improve the quality of care provided to the adultvictim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergency.

In this course the student will enhancetheir skills in the treatment of arrest and peri-arrest patients through active participation in a series of simulated cardia and respiratory cases.

Course Prerequisites. Providers who take the ACLS Provider Course must be proficient in the following:

  • Performing BLS CPR skills
  • Reading and interpreting ECGs
  • Understanding ACLS medications
  • Performing the BLS Primary Survey and the ACLSSecondary Survey
  • Must complete ACLS pre-test and bring a copy of completion to class (www.heart.org/eccstudent)
  • Basic understanding of EKG's and pharmacology is necessary for successful completion.
  • Current ACLS Provider card (ACLS Renewals Only)
